Hello, dear ones, and Happy New Year! I wasn’t going to post today, but I came across two little gifts last week that I wanted to share with you (along with my easy, nutritious and damn delicious homemade hot chocolate recipe).
We traveled to Illinois to spend Christmas with my family, and it was chaotic, loud, and so much fun. Seventeen of us were packed into my parents’ moderate midwestern home. We celebrated and danced and ate and laughed, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. On Tuesday afternoon we flew home, then the girls, James and I had our own little Christmas celebration on Wednesday morning. As the day moved on I realized that I was exhausted. Like, bone tired.
I spent the entire afternoon on the couch, trying to read but mostly sleeping. My mind immediately wanted an explanation for the fatigue (was I getting sick? did I pick up a bug at the airport?), but I reminded myself that my body was communicating with me, and that all I needed to do was listen. That was when I came across the first little gift.
