Cooking is indeed a layered and emotional undertaking. I will spend some time after hearing this taking a look at my own unexamined patterns and conditioning around providing for my family, which is also something I love to do, but at times wears my ass out! 🙃
It's so nuanced isn't it? It's so natural to enjoy cooking and providing for our families (it feels good!), and yet it is indeed real work that takes a massive amount of effort, and sometimes it sucks. Both are true. I think the more we start to understand our own needs and put ourselves into the equation, the more we can authentically show up (or not). Also, there needs to be a wider shift around domestic work and how its perceived and valued. Thanks for commenting Jess!!!
Agree!! I have also noticed in the kitchen (and life), if I step back a release my tendency to want to control (yep, it’s true) 😬 wonderful things can happen (like other people have a chance to step in and contribute too!)
