Delicious! French Silk Pie (as my dad called it) was my father's favorite dessert when I was a kid, and I haven't thought about it in years! He used to take us on solo dates to Baker's Square--a pie only restaurant in the midwest (or maybe they had it elsewhere). Thank you for reminding me of this sweet tradition and that there's a healthier way to have the same treat.
Oh my goodness, French silk pie from Baker's Square was also my dad's favorite when I was growing up, and it was what inspired this recipe!! My dad used to bring home the pie on special occasions, and it will forever remind me of him. This version is my now my husband's favorite pie, which somehow feels full circle (we even ate it last night for Father's Day). ❤️
Hi Nicki- Congratulations on this new endeavor! I have been following your for about a year or so and have enjoyed your writing so much. I have loved so many recipes of yours, as well (your Build-a-Bowl cookbook has really influenced how I cook...I'm much more mix-and-match). What made From Scratch Fast start to rise above the others, for me, is when you started to include your thoughts on food as it relates to our overall wellbeing and the world around us. Food has become so fraught in our culture, it's great to hear a measured, thoughtful, warm voice approach it in a different way. So I am looking forward very much to MBSFood. Also, I am older, in my 60s, and watched the blogging world unfold. It was exciting at first, but then I began to wonder how anyone could keep grinding out content while dancing to the logarithim. I applaud your decision and can't wait to see what happens next!
Hi Ellen, thank for your kind, thoughtful comment! This means so much to me. I'm also so glad to hear that Build-a-Bowl has been helpful for you (I'm actually developing a new bowl recipe for January, so stay tuned for that!). I'm grateful to be able to go deeper with you in this space, and I look forward to our journey ahead.
